comfortable acknowledgement

i have been sleeping pretty deeply these past three days and its probably because im not sleeping correctly. i thought that by sleeping on the floor my body would adapt some kind of ascetic character that disengaged me from typical needs.

im thinking that thousands of years of humans in different cultures slept on softer surfaces than a hard floor for a reason. so im either going to have to accelerate the construction/acquisition/purchase of a japanese tatami mat/frame, or some other either makeshift or permanent substitute. interestingly naps are fine on a carpet, but a full nights sleep ends up being slightly fitful. hence this sudden urgency.

here it is. the newest of the new. i laughed hard enough to burble oatmeal out of my mouth this morning:

“I have good news and bad news,” the defense attorney
told his client.

“First the bad news. The blood test came back, and your
DNA is an exact match with that found at the crime scene.”

“Oh, no!” cried the client. “What’s the good news?”

“Your cholesterol is only 180.”
