addendum to the addendum
before i get to the addendum let me just say that i have used the word addendum many a time in my life and it has always gone smoothly. but after hearing scotts usage on the phone i now relegate the word to a small niche of words to use in order to befuddle a specific audience. that said, i recently claimed i finally found bliss with the combination of itunes and vista. well bliss was rent asunder this week after experiencing crash after crash of itunes either in the act of or post ipod loading and/or while drilling down through my stupid music. this coupled with the fact that apparently itunes will NOT monitor a folder for changes, meaning if you rename, move, delete, or add music, itunes does not give a shit unless it was the sole proprieter. yes i know applescript has been tweaked out to handle this. this does not help me though. i digress. this spelled certain death for what i thought was finally a marriage made in steve and billz communal libido. well not to worry. because the fine folks at nullsoft have been working without my relentless support and adulation, and the newest winamp now has COMPLETE ipod support. i can transfer photos, video, music, rss feeds, and my puerile innocence to the ipod or zen vision:m or sansa or anything else at my leisure. HOORAY! i have always liked winamp and this is the nail that killed the construction worker when he hammered into the coffin. the fine benefits of using itunes over winamp? clean interface that was tried and true with a cleaner rss browser and simple scheduling for rss feed accumulation and disposal. plus the obvious dynamic playlists, ipod synchronization, and use of replay gain so that i dont rupture the OTHER eardrum. finer points of winamp! far more file type support, fully customizable interface, fully customizable dynamic playlists both locally and on ipod, full support for *all* features of ipod, monitoring of any folders i specify at specific intervals, lightweight, WAY cooler visualizations, DOESNT CRASH, full support for aggregation of audio rss feeds, and probably a buttload of other stuff i havent realized just yet. not to mention winamp uses less resources, uses a better (imo) skinning interface, and lastly the transcoding that was apparently added recently is flawless and fast as hell. thanks dudettes and dudes at winamp! i just peed my pants in happiness!
