foothills

it has been one week and i think im well on my way to drinking prune juice everyday from now on. the first two days it tasted a lot like tamarind candy. like the stuff you find at mexican grocery. i hate that stuff. but then magically it started tasting different. like a tasty version of the tamarind candy. anyway that habit is sticking and i think a habit that is starting to crystallize is the aversion to eating cow. im still cukcoo for seafood and sadly chicken is still acceptable in my mind but after seeing fast food nation i am tipped over the precipice. this is really a tragedy because one of my favorite indian foods is keemah and bhaji and that is made with ground beef. but its better than imagining a terrified cow pushed down a steel corridor after it was stuffed full of steroids and then having its head blown off. i guess the mental imagery is finally sticking. thanks linklater. i watched the part in baraka with the baby chickens having their beaks branded and for whatever reason that didnt cause me to stop eating chicken but after thinking about it now even chicken might fall prey to my shame index. i imagine the difficulty is not in deciding to not eat these things at home. its when you are eating elsewhere and have a choice of eating or not eating and being a killjoy among peers. props to my mom who never whines about the terrible lack of vegetarian options in nearly every restaurant in america.
